BRIEF: UCLA baseball has share of Pac-12 title in hand, looks for more

May 17--UCLA can clinch a share of the Pac-12 baseball championship with a victory over Arizona at Jackie Robinson Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m.

The second-ranked Bruins (39-12, 20-6) moved a step closer their third title in five seasons with a 6-0 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday. Grant Watson pitched seven shutout innings for his 30th career victory, moving him into second behind Trevor Bauer's 34 wins on the school's all-time list.

UCLA won the Pac-12 title in 2012 and 2011. The Bruins won the national championship in 2013.

Watson (8-4) allowed four hits and struck out six. The Bruins have shut out the Wildcats, the Pac-12's top-hitting team, all 19 innings through the first two games of the series. James Kaprielian and David Berg combined to no-hit Arizona on Friday.

Brett Stephens had three hits and drove in a run. Ty Moore has a bases-empty home run, his sixth homer of the season, to break a scoreless tie in the fourth inning.

UCLA has a nonconference game Tuesday at UC Irvine and closes the regular season with a three-game series at Oregon next weekend. The Bruins are expected to host an NCAA regional.
