BRIEF: Uber driver is stabbed in face, neck

Nov. 25--An Uber driver was stabbed multiple times early Tuesday during a robbery in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood.

Police arrived about 3:45 a.m. to find the driver sitting in his car with stab wounds to his face and neck.

He is doing well and recovering from his injuries, but detectives are still looking for one of two attackers, LAPD Officer Drake Madison said.

A woman suspected in the assault and robbery was arrested, he said. They are still searching for a man they believe is connected to the attack in the 600 block of 64th Street.

The driver told investigators a man and woman robbed him and fled.

It is unclear whether the man and woman were passengers who requested the Uber driver, Madison said.

Uber spokesperson Eva Behrend said the company was working to gather additional details about the attack and "stand ready to work with the authorities and help them in any way that we can."

"Our heart goes out to the victim," she said.
