BRIEF: U.S. Olympic officials gather to decide on 2024 bid

Dec. 15--U.S. Olympic Committee officials are scheduled to convene in Redwood City, Calif., Monday afternoon for the start of a two-day session that could decide which American city -- if any -- bids for the 2024 Summer Games.

Representatives from Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., are set to make hourlong presentations to the USOC board of directors on Tuesday.

The USOC has reserved the right to skip bidding if none of the proposals seem capable of winning on an international level, but American officials have said they are leaning toward making a run at the Games.

Mayor Eric Garcetti and sports executive Casey Wasserman will lead the Los Angeles group, which is scheduled to make the first presentation around 8 a.m.

The USOC is scheduled to hold a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.
