May 13--Ultimately, Tyler Luatua felt at home at his second home.
At the end of January, Luatua thought it best to leave Notre Dame and transfer to Brigham Young so he could be closer to his family in California.
But the junior tight end decided he had made a hasty decision, and he has rejoined the program, Notre Dame announced Friday.
"Family is extremely important to me, and I had a strong desire to get close to them," Luatua said in a statement. "Once I was able to truly sit down with them and talk about everything, it became obvious that Notre Dame has become my home."
Coach Brian Kelly said there's a roster spot open for Luatua, who has not caught a pass during his college career. Kelly said Luatua approached him during the last couple of weeks, expressing his desire to return.
"He's most certainly grateful for the opportunity, and I'm convinced this is the right thing for him," Kelly said.
