BRIEF: Two teens stabbed, wounded during brawl outside Santa Ana high school

April 18--Three people were detained by police Friday afternoon after a fight outside a Santa Ana school that left two teens stabbed.

About 3 p.m., as school let out from Community Day Intermediate and High School, a group of about 20 to 25 people began to brawl, Santa Ana police spokesman Anthony Bertagna said.

A 14-year-old and 17-year-old were stabbed during the fight. The younger teen was listed in serious condition at a local hospital, and the 17-year-old was in stable condition, Bertagna said.

School district police were able to assist in getting the victims medical help, said Deidra Powell, spokeswoman for the Santa Ana Unified School District.

Santa Ana police were interviewing a crowd of witnesses Friday afternoon, trying to figure out what prompted the fight, Bertagna said.

Police found no weapons at the crime scene but were continuing to search the surrounding neighborhood.
