April 11--A 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were charged in a Sunday night robbery where they used a replica gun to rob a man on the North Side, officials said.
Shortly before midnight, a 48-year-old man was walking in the 500 block of West Addison Street when he was approached by the teens. The boy pulled out what appeared to be a gun and demanded the man's property, police said.
The two then fled the scene with the man's cash and cell phone.
Officers responding to a call of a robbery in progress were able to find the teens in the 3700 block of North Pine Grove Avenue. They recovered the victim's belongings and a replica firearm, said police.
The teens were charged as juveniles with one count each of armed robbery using a dangerous weapon, police said.
