BRIEF: Two people are killed in police shooting in Santa Ana

Feb. 19--Two people were killed Thursday in an officer-involved shooting in Santa Ana, authorities said.

Officers responded about 6 p.m. to the 1100 block of East 4th Street and made contact with several suspects, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

At some point, police opened fire. Bertagna, the department spokesman, did not know the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, Bertagna said. Their identities were not released. It was unclear whether any officers were injured.

At least one weapon was recovered at the scene.
