BRIEF: Two new 'Empire' songs released before Season 2 premiere

Sept. 04--Fox and Columbia Records this week released two new tracks for the second season of "Empire," a show that's filmed in Chicago.

"No Doubt About It" features rapper Pitbull, who wrote the song with Grammy winner Ne-Yo, and Jussie Smollett, who plays singer-songwriter Jamal Lyon on the show, about a hip-hop mogul's family. Smollett also sings on "Ain't About the Money" with Bryshere "Yazz" Gray (who plays his TV brother Hakeem Lyon).

The songs, which are available Friday on iTunes and Spotify, will be on the "Empire: Original Soundtrack From Season 2 Volume 1" album that's expected to be released later this year.

Season 2 of "Empire" premieres Sept. 23 on Fox. The cast began filming Season 2 in Chicago in June and is expected to continue through March. Taraji P. Henson, who plays matriarch Cookie Lyon, was recently spotted at a Near North Side shoot.
