Nov. 04--Two men have been charged with taking escorts to vacant properties on the Northwest Side, where they robbed and sexually assaulted the women at gunpoint, police said.
Alfredo Torres, 28, and Ruben Hernandez, 21, were both charged Tuesday morning with attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated robbery, unlawful restraint and aggravated criminal sexual abuse with a weapon, police said.
Hernandez and Torres contacted the women and directed them to vacant houses and apartments, police said. When they arrived, the men robbed and sexually assault them at gunpoint, police said.
Authorities had issued a community alert about the attacks on Oct. 28.
Hernandez, of the 7100 block of South Hamlin Avenue, and Torres, of the 9600 block of South McVicker Avenue, were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
