BRIEF: Two Chicago puppies represented in Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl

Jan. 12--The Bears' season may be over, but Chicago won't go unrepresented on Super Bowl Sunday.

Two puppies from PAWS Chicago were chosen to participate in Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl XII: Cooper, a 15-week-old Great Pyrenees/Collie mix, and Athena, a 19-week-old American Bulldog mix. PAWS Chicago is one of 44 shelters and rescue groups involved.

Since submitting Cooper and Athena to the Puppy Bowl, both puppies have been adopted and are living in Chicago, said Sarah McDonald, PAWS Associate Director of Media and Community Relations.

"We love that all the puppies participating in the Puppy Bowl are rescues and feel it's such a wonderful opportunity to showcase the amazing variety of puppies available for adoption at your local shelter," McDonald said.

Cooper, who's starting for Team Fluff, is the top draft pick for the Puppy Bowl fantasy team, and according to Animal Planet's website, "dreams of catching a ball at Wrigley Field."

The two-hour event airs Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. (CT).
