Jan. 20--Two men have been charged after police say they stole a vehicle and then shot a 23-year-old man in the city's Lawndale neighborhood Sunday evening.
The shooting happened about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, police said. Officers on patrol witnessed someone inside a green Jeep Grand Cherokee firing shots at a 23-year-old man in the 3100 block of West Polk Street, according to a police statement.
The man, 23, was shot in his right foot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized, police said.
The officers who saw the shooting chased the Jeep which fled and struck an iron fence near Madison Street and Sacramento Avenue on the West Side. The two men inside the Jeep were arrested and charged.
Anthony Dewayne Harris, 22, of the 1600 block of South Komensky Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm and criminal trespass to a vehicle, police said.
Joshua Anthony Almore, 22, of the 9300 block of South Ada Street, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm, unlawful transport of a stolen vehicle and driving without a license, police said.
Harris and Almore are scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday afternoon.
