BRIEF: Two charged in Bronzeville shooting death

Dec. 29--Two South Side men have been charged in the fatal shooting a man in Bronzeville last week.

Terrell Monroe, 22, and Marcae Rogers, 32, are both facing one count of felony murder, according to a police statement.

Police said the two are responsible for a fatal shooting Friday in the Bronzeville neighborhood. About 2:48 p.m. Friday, police found 23-year-old David Drayton shot repeatedly in the chest in the 300 block of East 47th Street.

Drayton, of the 6400 block of South Harvard Avenue, was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead there, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police said a "concerned citizen" relayed detailed information about Monroe and Rogers when officers arrived on the scene of the shooting Friday, and the two were later arrested.

Both Monroe, of the 7200 block of South Eberhart Avenue, and Rogers, of the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue, are scheduled to appear in bond court Monday afternoon.
