Feb. 03--Los Angeles firefighters recovered two human bodies at a residential fire in Lake Balboa on Wednesday, the first potential fire fatalities of the year, officials said.
Crews responded to the blaze before 10:30 a.m. in the 22500 block of West Vanowen Street, said Margaret Stewart, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman. The fire occurred inside a detached garage that had been converted into a residence, she said.
The cause for the fire was under investigation. There was no description of the victims immediately available.
In 2015, there were 11 fire-related deaths in Los Angeles, including two that were suicides, officials said. There were 24 fire-related deaths in 2014.
