BRIEF: TV stars to talk culture at Macy's Black History Month event

Feb. 10--"Empire" star Serayah McNeill and Jurnee Smollett-Bell ("True Blood") are scheduled to discuss how their culture influenced their careers Wednesday at the Macy's State Street store.

The event, in honor of Black History Month, is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. on the seventh floor of Macy's, 111 N. State St. Attendees can watch a trailer for Smollett-Bell's upcoming WGN America show "Underground" and a performance by McNeill.

McNeill, 20, plays singer Tiana Brown on "Empire," which is filmed in Chicago and is slated to air the second half of its second season beginning March 30.

Smollett-Bell, 29, starred in the fifth season of "Parenthood" and the sixth and seventh seasons of "True Blood."

"Underground," which follows a group of slaves who plan an escape from a Georgia plantation, is slated to premiere March 9.
