May 05--ST. LOUIS -- Kyle Hendricks said he regained the movement in his sinker that deserted him in his last start.
Hendricks believes that could bode well for his chances Tuesday night when he attempts to snap the St. Louis Cardinals' seven-game winning streak.
Hendricks is off to a slower start that he's accustomed to, as he's pitched six innings in only one of his four starts. He lasted only five innings in his last start Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and acknowledged the fact he didn't trust his fastball as much as he normally does because of the sudden lack of moment.
The movement is essential because Hendricks doesn't throw in the mid-90 mph range, but he felt more confidence about his chances after noticing the movement in his fastball returned during a bullpen session this weekend.
"You got to trust your movement," said Hendricks, who walked three in his last start against the Pirates after walking only one in his first 15 2/3 innings. "Some of those games, I didn't have it. it wasn't normal.
"Once you get your movement back, then it's easier to trust it."
Hendricks will oppose left-hander Tyler Lyons.
