BRIEF: Trojans move up to 17th in AP poll, 16th in coaches' poll

Sept. 27--USC's 42-14 victory over Arizona State propelled the Trojans up two spots in the Associated Press media poll and the national coaches' poll on Sunday.

USC moved from 19th to 17th in the AP poll, from 18th to 16th in the coaches' poll.

Ohio State, Michigan State, Mississippi, TCU and Baylor are the top five in the AP poll. Ohio State is also top-ranked in the coaches' poll, followed by Michigan State, TCU, Baylor and Mississippi.

USC, which rebounded from its loss against Stanford, is 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Pac-12 Conference play.

The Trojans have an open date this week.

USC plays Washington on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Coliseum.
