March 24--Lookingglass Theatre Company filled in the gaps of its 2015-16 season on Tuesday. The three-play roster will begin with a new, previously announced adaptation of "Treasure Island" by Mary Zimmerman.
Zimmerman will, as is her usual practice, also direct the production of Robert Louis Stevenson's story of pirates and untold riches. It will run Oct. 7-Jan 17, 2016.
Then comes "Blood Wedding" (March 2-April 24, 2016), the classic form-bending play by Spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca. Lorca's drama is here translated by Michael Dewell and Carmen Lapata, and the production will be directed by Daniel Ostling.
And last is a new play by Kevin Douglas called "Thaddeus and Slocum: A Vaudeville Adventure" (June 1-Aug. 7, 2016). Douglas' show business play is about a duo of talented performers, one white and one black, and the adversity they face in 1908 Chicago. The play will be co-directed by J. Nicole Brooks and Krissy Vanderwarker.
Lookingglass Theatre Company is located at Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave.
