BRIEF: Body found on Kenilworth platform on Metra's Union Pacific North line

Nov. 14--A woman's body was found on a Metra platform in suburban Kenilworth on Friday evening after she apparently had been hit by a train, according to Kenilworth police.

A passer-by reported seeing someone lying on the platform about 6:40 p.m. Friday, according to a news release. Police responded and found the woman dead.

Her identity has not been confirmed, police said. Further details about the incident were not immediately available.

Trains on Metra's Union Pacific North Line were returning normal as of about 8:30 p.m. Friday after a body was found on a platform at the Kenilworth stop, officials said.

Service on the line was halted from between 90 minutes to two hours Friday night, according to officials.

According to Metra's website, all inbound and outbound trains were stopped for a various lengths of time because of police activity, but were moving again with extensive delays after 8:30 p.m.
