BRIEF: Elmhurst police ask for help identifying woman killed by Metra train

Oct. 10--Police in Elmhurst are asking for the public's help identifying a woman in her 60s or early 70s who stepped in front of a Metra Union Pacific West Line train Friday afternoon and was killed.

Train No. 52 hit the woman east of York Road near First Avenue and Palmer Drive in Elmhurst about 3:30 p.m., police said in a news release.

Witnesses told police the woman stepped in front of the inbound train, according to the release. The location is just east of the Elmhurst Metra station, according to a Metra spokesman.

The woman was white, believed to be between 60 and 70 years old and weighed about 130 pounds, with white or light-colored hair. She was wearing blue jogging pants and a white nightgown with a lace bow, as well as size 7 shoes. She was carrying a Lina purse that held only a key on an orange ring and glasses, according to police.

Anyone with information about the woman was asked to call the Elmhurst police at 630-530-3050.
