BRIEF: Man seriously injured after hit by freight train in Pilsen

Dec. 15--A 26-year-old man was seriously hurt after being struck by a freight train early Tuesday in the Pilsen neighborhood, authorities said.

The man was hit by a Canadian National train in the 2000 block of South Loomis Street around 2:45 a.m., said Officer Ron Gaines, a spokesman for the Chicago police.

The man's leg was severely damaged, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital. He was listed in serious condition, Gaines said.

No other information was available.
