May 01--Toro de Fuego Cantina (9680 Lincolnway Lane, Frankfort; 815-464-1000) officially opens its doors today.
Developed by the Tommy Nevin's Group (Toro's location previous held a Tommy Nevin's Irish pub), Toro de Fuego offers a largely Mexican menu with scattered Spanish influences. There are nine varieties of tacos (sold three for $9.99) and such entres as ropa vieja, chicken in mole xiqueno and pork tenderloin in morita chile sauce. Most entrees are $16 or less.
Beverages include a dozen or so specialty cocktails, a short wine list and a hefty selection of sipping tequilas, some of them available in tequila flights.
Friday's opening night will feature fire performers, featured on the hour from 7-9 p.m. There will be live music Saturday through Tuesday (which is Cinco de Mayo).
