June 30--A tornado warning was in effect Monday for northwestern LaSalle and southeastern Lee counties, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.
The weather service indicated that the warning is in effect until 6:15 p.m. and that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Paw Paw, about 7 miles north of Mendota.
The storm was moving south about 15 mph. A spotter reported seeing a rotating wall cloud with the storm just south of Compton at 5:30 p.m., according to Casey Sullivan, a meteorologist.
According to Sullivan, funnel clouds have been reported, but there have not been any reported sightings.
