April 16--Infielder Tommy La Stella hasn't played since April 8, but he believes he'll be able to rejoin the Chicago Cubs as soon as he's eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on April 24.
"I would hope as soon as I'm eligible to come off the DL I'd be ready, health-wise," said La Stella, who is recovering from right rib cage inflammation. "But that remains be to be seen, how quickly I progress and how everything goes with the rehab.
La Stella said he has been relegated to very limited work because of the delicacy of the area.
Outfielder Chris Denorfia is 1-for-3 in two games on a minor league rehabilitation assignment for Class-A Myrtle Beach, which had its game with Salem postponed Wednesday night because of rain. Denorfia is recovering from a hamstring injury suffered March 17.
