July 22--Tom Calderone, president of VH1, is exiting his post after seven years.
"I'm reaching out today because I am leaving the VH1 family," Calderone said in an internal memo to VH1 staff, obtained by the Los Angeles Times. "And with that in mind, my very first thought, was to send an email to say thank you to all of you."
Prior to his role as president, Calderone served as general manager of VH1 for MTV Networks, where he started working in 1998.
His departure comes as VH1 grapples with lower ratings. The network is home to shows such as "Love Hip Hop," "Basketball Wives" and "Mob Wives."
Calderone concluded his lengthy email with a final thank you "for letting me lead you every day from every aspect of the business. I did not take that task lightly or for granted. You all made it an amazing and wonderful experience to be here for the last several years."
The email did not disclose where the executive was headed to next or who might replace him at the network.
