BRIEF: Tom Brady agrees to contract extension that could keep him with the Patriots through 2019

Feb. 29--Tom Brady will be 39 in August but has shown no signs of slowing down as an NFL quarterback.

The New England Patriots seem to agree. They have agreed to a two-year contract extension with their superstar player, which would keep him with the team through the 2019 season, according to multiple media reports.

Financial details have not been released.

Brady will be 42 by the time his new deal expires, but that might not matter if he continues aging the way he has so far.

This past season, his 14th as the Patriots' starting quarterback, Brady threw for 4,770 yards (the fourth highest of his career), 36 touchdowns (tied for his third most) and only seven interceptions (his second fewest) for a quarterback rating of 102.2 (his fourth highest).

Under his current contract, Brady is scheduled to count $15 million against the cap in 2016 and $16 million in 2017. Those numbers could come down as part of the new deal.
