BRIEF: Tiger Woods' opening round at Farmers delayed by fog

Feb. 05--REPORTING FROM LA JOLLA -- One of the most anticipated rounds of Tiger Woods' career has been delayed by fog.

Woods said he is caught between swing patterns. Well, Torrey Pines at the moment is caught between weather patterns.

Woods, coming off last week's career-worst round of 82, was originally set to tee off at 9:20 a.m. on the north course in the opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open.

Fog delayed the start an hour, and it rolled in again just minutes before Woods was ready to hit at 10:20. Restart is scheduled for 11:40 a.m.

This could not have been good news for a player who is fighting his swing. Woods is playing with Billy Horschel and Rickie Fowler.

Woods' career is at a crossroads as he battles short game woes. He has dropped to No. 56 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Wednesday he was soliciting chipping advice from fellow competitors, something that would have been unheard-of in Woods' prime.

"My good is really good," Woods said after Wednesday's fog-shortened pro am. "Unfortunately, my bad is really bad."

Woods is a seven-time winner of the Farmers Insurance Open and also won the 2008 U.S. Open, the last of his 14 major victories, at Torrey Pines.
