June 26--The summary
Third baseman Kris Bryant left after two innings because of flu-like symptoms as the Dodgers pounced on Jon Lester in the first two en route to a 4-0 victory. Addison Russell started at shortstop in place of Starlin Castro, who attended the birth of his second child but entered the game in the sixth.
At the plate
Lester was lifted for a pinch hitter in the fourth and Miguel Montero singled but Chris Coghlan was thrown out at home plate by 10 feet trying to score on it.
On the mound
Home plate umpire Andy Fletcher charged toward Lester, who was upset after a ball four call to A.J. Ellis in the second. Catcher David Ross intercepted Fletcher and no one was ejected.
In the field
Chris Denorfia, making his first start in center field, made a diving catch in deep left-center to rob Justin Turner of an extra-base hit in the second.
Key number
5.40 -- Lester's first-inning ERA this season.
The quote
"I've never had to step in front of an umpire that I know of, but sometimes you can make a lot out of it. There are a lot of heated battles." David Ross
