April 29--Jake Arrieta's scoreless streak at Wrigley Field ended Thursday at 522/3 innings, but the Cubs scored five times in the first three innings and coasted to a 7-2 victory over the Brewers. Arrieta's streak ended with two out in the fifth inning on a single to Jonathan Villar, who stole second and scored on Alex Presley's double.
At the plate
Ben Zobrist hit a two-run single in the second and David Ross continued his amazing final season when he ripped a home run on a 3-2 pitch off Taylor Youngmann in the second.
On the mound
Arrieta needed 31 pitches to get out of the first, but he struck out Chris Carter and Kirk Nieuwenhuis with the bases loaded to end the inning. Arrieta labored mostly because of several low pitches out of the strike zone.
In the field
Zobrist was positioned perfectly at second base on consecutive Aaron Hill and Yadiel Rivera grounders in the second.
Key number
3: Games in which the Cubs have drawn at least 10 walks
