May 08--Severe thunderstorms are expected to pop up in parts of the Chicago area Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service, with chances of thunderstorms continuing through Monday.
The weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Will County, lasting until 4:15 p.m., as storms with 60 mph winds moved through areas including Plainfield, Lockport and Romeoville.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible throughout the area into the evening, as a cold front disturbs a moist and warm air mass. Storms this evening and tonight could produce locally heavy rainfalls and high winds, as well as hail. Some storms are expected to linger overnight.
A periodic chance of thunderstorms is expectedx through Monday, with the greatest chance of severe storms late Sunday into Monday, according to the weather service.
