Feb. 19--The design of this Santa Monica house is credited to Hollywood art director Cedrick Gibbons, who in 1928 oversaw the design the Oscar statue.
Listed for sale at $3.695 million, the Southern Colonial has changed hands many times since it was built in 1933. Previous sales prices include $2.925 million in 2006, $2.2 million in 2004 and $404,500 in 1981.
The two-story house has 3,328 square feet of living space that contain dining, family and living rooms, an attached gym/office, four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The bedrooms have balconies and there's a covered patio.
Gibbons, who died in 1960 at 67, was a founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He won 11 Oscars for art direction and was nominated 39 times.
His own Art Deco house was on the same street.
