Four shot on South Side, including 14-year-old boy

Nov. 08--Four people, including a 14-year-old boy, were shot in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side Friday, police said.

The latest shooting happened at 2:30 p.m. when an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg on the 8400 block of South Exchange Avenue, police said.

The man took himself to Trinity Hospital where he was listed in good condition. Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Earlier, paramedics were sent to the 7000 block of South Aberdeen Street about 9:30 a.m., according to police.

The boy appeared to be shot in the buttocks, a man in his 20s was apparently shot in the lower back and the third victim, 19, suffered a graze wound, police said.

The victims were standing on a corner in an "active gang area'' when a gunman in his 20s wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans emerged from an alley east of them and started firing, police said.

The male victims, 14, 19, and man in his early 20s, have not given police further information.

Police said the 14-year-old was taken to University of Chicago Comer's Children's Hospital where he was in good condition, the 19-year-old suffered a graze wound and declined to be taken to a hospital, and the most seriously injured, a man in early 20s, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition had stabilized.

No arrests have been made.

A report that a green SUV seen was fleeing down an alley near the shooting was not confirmed, police said.
