Deaths of man, woman, child in Downey investigated as murder-suicide

Oct. 22--An investigation continued early Thursday into the deaths of a man, woman and 1-year-old child whose bodies were found inside a Downey apartment.

Two relatives of the woman were concerned they had not heard from her in a couple of days and went to her apartment in the 7300 block of Neo Street about 8 p.m. Wednesday, said Downey police Lt. Mark McDaniel.

A landlord had to open the door for them because it was locked, McDaniel said. After they went inside, one of the women let out a horrified scream, KTLA reported.

"I ran outside, saw this lady crying and yelling, [she] had blood on herself and was carrying a baby," resident Marilyn Marquez told CBS Los Angeles.

The bodies of the woman and child were found in a bathtub filled with water, KTLA reported. The body of the man was found in a bedroom. Police are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide although no weapons were found, CBS reported.

Neighbors hadn't heard anything suspicious from the apartment in the last couple of days, McDaniel said. Police told media outlets that there has been a history of domestic violence calls at the home.

The victims have not yet been identified.

Staff writer Matt Hamilton contributed to this report.
