Jan. 18--The NBC singing competition "The Voice" is scheduled to hold auditions next month in Chicago.
Singers at least 15 years old can try out Feb. 6-7 at Navy Pier's Festival Hall A. More information and eligibility requirements are available at nbcthevoice.com.
If singers are successful in the initial audition rounds they'll perform for celebrity mentors who cannot see the singers and must decide whether they want to coach them based solely on voice. The show winner, who typically gets a record deal, is decided by votes from the public.
Four Chicago-area singers were selected for Season 9 of "The Voice" last year. Jeffery Austin, who hails from St. Charles, finished in fourth place in the competition.
