Feb. 10--The Brazilian photojournalist Sebastiao Salgado has spent decades transporting people to the furthest corners of the Earth through his images: from the mines of Brazil to the forests of Papua New Guinea to remote islands in the Arctic.
Now the documentary "The Salt of the Earth" turns the lens on the acclaimed photographer, and the Los Angeles Times has an exclusive trailer for the Oscar-nominated film, viewable above.

Directed by veteran German filmmaker Wim Wenders and Salgado's son, Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, "The Salt of the Earth" not only chronicles the travels that have taken Salgado all over the world and resulted in some of the most memorable photographs of the 20th century, it recounts his own journey of personal transformation.
In the trailer, Wenders recalls first seeing one of Salgado's images more than 20 years ago. "What I saw profoundly moved me," the director says. "There was a stamp on the back and a signature: Sebastiao Salgado. Little did I know that I was going to discover much more than just a photographer."
Sony Pictures Classics is set to release "The Salt of the Earth"on Mar. 27.
