BRIEF: The Northman to begin serving lunch

April 25--Starting Tuesday, Chicago's first dedicated cider bar, The Northman, is open for lunch.

As you'd expect, chef Sean Sanders designed the menu to pair with the extensive cider list. Shareable plates include a cheese board ($7) of Camembert au Calvados, Rebollin Fusion de Sidre and Capra goat cheese, and the ploughman's platter ($13 or $23) with chicken liver pate, butterkase cheese and a daily selection of meat.

A spring pea and ramp soup ($8) is seasonally appropriate, while a selection of sandwiches (falafel, grilled chicken grinder, doner kebab) and salads round out the menu.

The restaurant will be open for lunch 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.
