BRIEF: The estate of the late Sam Simon of 'The Simpsons' fame includes a Richard Neutra-designed home

Sept. 29--The estate of the late co-creator of "The Simpsons," Sam Simon, is for sale in Pacific Palisades at $18 million.

The two-part compound includes the Baily Case Study House, designed by modernist architect Richard Neutra, and a contemporary main house. The 1950s and '60s Case Study Program encouraged experimentation with new materials and designs.

Simon had the Baily House restored during his ownership, and it is now a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.

Among features of the main house are a high-ceilinged entry with a staircase, interior archways, a spacious living room and a theater/game room with a bar. There are four bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, two powder rooms and 8,959 square feet of living space.

The 1.3 acres of grounds include a stone deck, an infinity-edge pool, a lawn and mature plantings.

Simon, who died this year at 59, was a director, writer and producer. The nine-time Emmy winner wrote for such shows as "Taxi" and "Cheers" before helping to develop the long-running animated sitcom.

Stephen Sigoloff and Billy Rose of the Agency are the listing agents.
