BRIEF: Ten Mile House opens in Evanston

Nov. 18--Ten Mile House (1700 Central St., Evanston, 847-905-0669) has opened for business.

The restaurant, a booming punt away from Northwestern University's Ryan Field, opened its doors at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Chef Greg Carter's menu features a mix of pub-food and comfort-food classics, including such starters as pork-shoulder poutine, pepperjack-stuffed tater tots and smoked chicken wings. There are also customizable, wood-fired pizzas, prime burgers and other sandwiches; the half-dozen main plates include dry-rubbed baby back ribs, spiced pork tenderloin and wood-roasted trout.

Ten Mile House is open daily for dinner and weekend lunch; weekday lunch and weekend brunch will be added eventually.
