Dec. 22--A man was fatally shot and four people, including two 17-year-old boys, have been wounded in separate shootings since Sunday afternoon on the South, Southwest and West sides, Chicago police said.
A 24-year-old man, identified as Randy Kimball of the 2700 block of West 15th Place, was killed in a shooting around 4 p.m. in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office and Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.
Kimball was discovered outside with a gunshot wound to the back in the 5400 block of West Hirsch Street, Greer said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, and he was later pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office and Greer.
No other details were immediately available, and no one was in custody.
Most recently, a 56-year-old man walked into West Suburban Medical Center after getting shot around 5:15 a.m. Monday, said Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Officer Nicole Trainor.
The man told police he was shot in the knee in the 200 block of North Central Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, Trainor said. Police were notified about the shooting around 7:30 a.m.
The man told police he was walking when an unknown attacker armed with gun walked up to him from behind. The two struggled over the gun, which went off during the fight, Trainor said.
The man told police he came back home, and after noticing he was shot, he took a taxicab to the hospital, Trainor said.
The man is listed in good condition, Trainor said.
About 10:35 p.m. Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting around 10:35 p.m. in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the Far South Side, Greer said.
The teen was a passenger in a vehicle in the 9600 block of South Throop Street when an unknown attacker walked up and fired shots at the vehicle, Greer said.
The 17-year-old was shot in the elbow, and his friend drove him to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Greer said.
About 8:45 p.m., a 26-year-old man walked into Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood after getting shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, Greer said.
The man was walking in the 1100 block of North Monitor Avenue when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck, Greer said.
The man was shot in the thigh and managed to get himself to the hospital, where his condition stabilized, Greer said.
About 4:40 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot in the Ickes Praire Homes neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The teen was with a friend in the 2700 block of South Dearborn Street and was about to exit a parked vehicle when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck, Greer said.
The teen was shot in his back, and his friend drove him to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, and his condition stabilized, Greer said.
No other details were immediately available.
About 3 p.m., a 35-year-old man waked into Holy Cross Hospital after getting shot in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.
The man told police he was in the 5000 block of South Archer Avenue when he was shot in the right arm, Zala said.
The man's condition stabilized at the hospital.
Police said he was uncooperative, and no other information about the shooting was available.
