Feb. 14--A 17-year-old boy was struck by a stray bullet Friday night while riding a Metro bus in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 10:15 p.m. after an altercation between a motorist and three men at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Western Avenue, said Officer Sara Faden, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman motorist stopped her vehicle and was approached by the three men, who were on foot, Faden said. After words were exchanged, the woman drove away and one of the men fired several shots at the vehicle with a handgun, Faden said.
Several rounds struck the nearby bus, wounding the teenage boy who was sitting near the back, Faden said.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The woman motorist was not injured.
No arrests have been made, and authorities on Saturday continued to search for the suspects, Faden said.
