BRIEF: Teen charged with attempted murder in Brighton Park shooting

April 02--A 19-year-old man was charged with attempted murder and obstructing identification after police said he shot a man and gave a bogus name to officers after they caught him.

Jose Mena, of the 3100 block of West 38th Place, is due in court Thursday.

Police said he shot a 20-year-old man in the hand and wrist after an argument in the 3100 block of West 39th Place. The shooting happened about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The 20-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and treated for his wounds, police said.

Mena was arrested "a short distance away" by officers responding to the shooting, police said in a news release Thursday morning.

Mena gave police a fake name and birth date during the investigation, police said.
