BRIEF: Teen charged in robberies at Red Line's Wilson stop

Jan. 19--Authorities charged a 17-year-old male in two robberies at the CTA Red Line's Wilson Stop in the Uptown neighborhood in the past three weeks.

The teen, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, faces two felony counts of robbery, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.

The teen, who resides within a block of the Wilson stop in the 4600 block of North Clifton Avenue, allegedly "forcibly grabbed" cellphones from the hands of two female victims about 2:15 a.m. Dec. 28 and about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 4600 block of North Broadway on the North Side, according to the statement.

Surveillance photos distributed to news media by police helped to track down the teen believed to be the robber, according to the statement.
