BRIEF: Take your pick of thousands of blooms at the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show

March 05--The Santa Barbara International Orchid Show returns this weekend with blooms from more than 50 orchid exhibitors and vendors from around the world.

Thousands of orchids will be available for sale in every imaginable shape, color, pattern and texture, including an unusual vanilla orchid and one species that attracts male bees by mimicking the look, scent and feel of a female bee.

There will also be free workshops on orchid care led by orchid experts and open houses at local orchid nurseries. For more information, visit californiaorchidtrail.com.

The Santa Barbara International Orchid Show is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Earl Warren Showgrounds, located in Santa Barbara at Highway 101 and Las Positas Road. General admission is $14; seniors, students with ID and advance group sales (minimum 25) are $12; and children 12 and younger are free with an adult. Tickets are available in advance at SBOrchidShow.com.
