BRIEF: Taj Gibson defends 'trash teams' comment on Twitter

March 25--Taj Gibson told reporters he was "embarrassed" by the Bulls losing to "trash teams," then defended himself on Twitter to followers who thought his comments were directed at the New York Knicks.

After the Bulls lost to the Knicks 106-94 Thursday, losing both games of a back-to-back home-and-away with New York, Gibson said, "Hell yeah, I'm embarrassed. I take pride in wearing this jersey."

Gibson added that "it's frustrating when we come up short and we look at ourselves when we lose to a -- I don't want to criticize -- but trash teams. Everyone is in the NBA for a reason, but we're playing against teams that aren't playing for anything and we're just laying down."

Some Twitter users interpreted "trash teams" as a shot at the Knicks and criticized Gibson online. The Bulls forward implied in several tweets that his statements were misunderstood.

"Anything the media says these days people believe. FYI I'm from New York. To many Knicks talking relax its Friday," Gibson tweeted.

During an exchange with one Knicks fan, Gibson tweeted, "... last time I looked I didnt say a teams name, U jumped the gun."
