Feb. 03--A man was taken into custody early Tuesday after an hourslong standoff with police at a South Loop high-rise.
Police were called to the building in the 1100 block of South Michigan Avenue about 7:40 p.m. Monday for a domestic incident, according to Chicago police spokesman Officer Hector Alfaro.
A man in his 50s then barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to come out, prompting SWAT teams to be called. The man was the only person in the apartment during the standoff, police said.
Officers and SWAT teams remained on the scene for hours Monday night. About 15 police vehicles were parked outside the high-rise, and SWAT trucks were parked in the alleyway behind the building.
Just before 3 a.m., the man was taken into custody without incident, police said.
No injuries were reported.
