BRIEF: 'Suspicious' object situation in Loop unfounded; traffic reopens

April 10--The Chicago Police Department Bomb and Arson Unit was investigating a "suspicious" object or package left near a statue in the city's Loop neighborhood, but the situation was unfounded.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., police got a call reporting the object in the 200 block of South Dearborn Street, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

Estrada said northbound traffic on Dearborn was being diverted at Jackson Boulevard.

As of 11:55 p.m., the scene was cleared and traffic was reopened.
