BRIEF: Super Bowl 50 doesn't set viewership record

Feb. 08--The Super Bowl didn't set a viewership record this year, but the NFL's championship game is still doing pretty well for itself.

An average of 111.9 million viewers tuned in to CBS on Sunday to watch Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos beat Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, 24-10.

That makes it the third-most watched show ever, according to the Nielsen company. New England's victory over Seattle last year remains atop that list with 114.4 million viewers, followed by the Seahawks win over the Broncos two years ago with 112.2 million viewers.

Following the postgame show, Stephen Colbert got his biggest audience for "The Late Show," 21.2 million. Still, it was the smallest post-Super Bowl audience since "Alias" pulled in 17.4 million for ABC in 2003.
