BRIEF: Sunday's recap: Cubs 3, A's 3

March 14--Kyle Hendricks posted another strong start, but Hector Rondon blew a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth Sunday in a 3-3 tie with the A's at HoHoKam Stadium.

At the plate

Jeimer Candelario and John Andreoli hit solo home runs. The Cubs had 11 hits.

On the mound

Hendricks allowed one hit over four scoreless innings with five strikeouts. He has 11 strikeouts over nine innings in three outings. Pedro Strop was sharp in his Cactus League debut with two strikeouts in one inning.

In the field

Kyle Schwarber returned to the lineup and made a running catch at the wall off Eric Sogard, while Javier Baez played sterling defense at second base.

Rizzo watch

Anthony Rizzo led off for the first time this spring and went 1-for-2 with a double to start the game. Maddon said it's only a spring training thing for Rizzo, who will mostly bat third or fourth.

The quote

"If I have to go through the wall, I'll do it." -- Schwarber on playing left field
