Sept. 21--Three men were killed and at least 11 other people have been wounded in separate shootings since late Sunday morning around Chicago, authorities said.
In the most recent fatal shooting, a 43-year-old man was killed around 9:40 p.m. Sunday in the Rosemoor neighborhood on the Far South Side, according to police.
Police officers responded to calls of a person shot in the 10100 block of South Calumet Avenue and found the man on a sidewalk with a wound to his abdomen, said Chicago Police Department spokesman Officer Ron Gaines.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was later pronounced dead, Gaines said.
No other information about the shooting was immediately available.
In other fatal shootings:
--A 37-year-old man was shot around 8:20 p.m. Sunday in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.
The man was walking with a friend in the 1600 block of North Central Avenue when he heard a gunshot and realized he was struck in the abdomen, Greer said.
He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 9:16 p.m., officials said.
He was identified as Phillip Floro, of the 300 block of West Franklin Street in Chicago, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
--Earlier, Deionte D. Harris, 18, of the 8200 block of South Bishop Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m. Sunday in the 8400 block of South Hermitage Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood, according to the medical examiner's office.
Paramedics were called to the Hermitage address at 10:34 a.m. for a person shot in the head, said Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Curtis Hudson, who added the victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
In other shootings:
--A 23-year-old man walked into University of Chicago Medical Center around 1 a.m. Monday after getting shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said. The man suffered a graze wound to his hip and was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
He told police he was in the 5400 block of South Laflin Street when he was shot, but police officers could not find evidence of the shooting in the area, police said.
--About 12:15 a.m. Monday, a 53-year-old man was wounded by a stray bullet in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, Gaines said. The man was inside a home in the 4200 block of West Thomas Street when someone walked up to the house and fired shots, Gaines said. He was treated at the scene, police said.
--About 11:50 p.m. Sunday, a 26-year-old man was shot during a robbery in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, Gaines said.
The man was in a parked vehicle in the 4200 block of West Washington Boulevard when an unknown attacker walked up, announced a robbery and shot him in the arm. The gunman took the man's wallet and fled, Gaines said.
The man drove himself to West Suburban Medical Center where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
--About 8:30 p.m. Sunday, two 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old man were shot in the Wrightwood neighborhood on the South Side, police said. The three were standing outside in the 2600 block of West 84th Place when they were hit by gunshots fired from a silver minivan, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.
The 18-year-old was shot in the buttocks, and the 19-year-old was struck in the right leg. Both were taken to Christ Medical Center, where their conditions stabilized.
The third man, 18, was grazed in the face. He walked into Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park after he was shot, Greer said.
--Two West Side shootings took place Sunday night.
At 6:53 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the left thigh near Central and Chicago avenues in the Austin neighborhood, Greer said. That man got himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, and his condition is not life-threatening. He was walking in the area when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck, Greer said.
About 6:30 p.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot in the buttocks in the 400 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
A motive was not known for the attacks, but police said the men shot on the West Side are gang members.
--A 19-year-old man was shot at 3:03 p.m. Sunday in the 7500 block of South Blackstone Avenue, in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, Trainor said.
The victim told police he had gotten off a bus and was walking west on Stony Island Avenue when he heard shots. A good Samaritan took him to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the lower back, Trainor said. He was later moved to Stroger Hospital, where his condition has stabilized.
--A 19-year-old man was in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side walking south on Wolcott Avenue near 71st Street at 1:17 p.m. Sunday when someone fired shots from an alley and a bullet grazed his left cheek, Trainor said. The man got himself to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition has stabilized, Trainor said.
--In a shooting at 11:15 a.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of South Wells Street in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side, a 30-year-old man was shot, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a police spokeswoman. The victim, who told police he'd seen a man with a gun running, was shot twice in the shoulder and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, Lemmon said.
No one was in custody as a result of the shootings, and police were investigating.
