BRIEF: Street closures start as crowds gather for Chicago's 46th Pride Parade

June 28--Residents and commuters traveling Sunday through the Uptown and Lakeview neighborhoods should watch out for street closures and for the hundreds of thousands of people who will be attending the 46th annual Chicago Pride Parade.

The parade is scheduled to kick off around noon at Broadway and Montrose Avenue. This year's celebrations will also include the presence of members of the Chicago Blackhawks and their freshly claimed Stanley Cup.

The parade procession will head south of Montrose on Halsted, then go east on Belmont and south on Broadway until Diversey. The route will end near Diversey Parkway and Cannon Drive.

Street closures and a temporary ban on parking along the parade route started early Sunday morning and will continue until celebrations are over in the afternoon.

Several CTA buses will be rerouted to accommodate the parade as well.

The parade will feature 200 different floats. The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup are scheduled to be riding on WGN Radio's float, which is tentatively No. 17 in the parade's lineup.
