Feb. 29--Strawdog Theatre Company has announced its 2016-17 season, the first to be produced away from its longtime home at 3829 N. Broadway. The company, still in negotiations for a permanent home in Evanston, will perform its 29th season at the Factory Theatre in Roger's Park.
The season will open with the world premiere of "Distance" (Aug. 25 -- Oct. 1), to be directed by Erica Weiss in her Strawdog debut. In Jerry Dye's new play, a woman battles Alzheimer's and connects a group of strangers all affected by her illness.
Shakespeare's "Cymbeline" (Jan. 12 -- Feb. 25) follows. Rob Kauzlaric will direct the dark comedy about a princess caught between an overbearing father, a banished husband and an evil queen.
A third production, running May 11 -- June 24, will be announced at a later date.
The Factory Theatre, a new 70-seat thrust space, is located at 1621 W. Howard St.
